In 1895, Edoardo Seghesio was one of the first winemakers in North America to chose to plant a relatively new grape varietal, Zinfandel. The first planting was next to his home in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley, which over 100 years later, is now considered the finest region in the world to grow Zinfandel.
Today, the Seghesio family farms over 400 acres of Zinfandel vineyards on five ranches throughout Sonoma County. Considered one of the world’s top producers of Zinfandel, Seghesio was mostly recently honored by Wine Spectator in their “Top 100 Wines of the World” for the 2007 Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel.
While the Sonoma Zin has sold-out, there are several other wonderful Zinfandels, from the richer Cortina and Old Vine Zins, to the smoother Home Ranch and San Lorenzo and our very popular Rockpile.
