Family Tables
October 2008
If you have not tried tasting wine at our Family Tables, you are simply missing out on one of the Wine Country's "must do" experiences. Read below to see what the Wine Spectator and the San Francisco Chronicle had to say about their experiences.
Wine Spectator
"The California tasting room experience is not just about sipping wine anymore. Visitors may still need ninja reflexes to get through the crowds at some wineries, and a nibble of cheddar may still pass as food-and-wine pairing at many tasting rooms, but a growing number of wineries are offering visitors more intimate and personalized access.
Events once reserved for VIPs—sit-down food-and-wine pairings, dinners prepared by the winery chef, and vertical tastings—are now offered to the public. And guests are sometimes even welcomed into private tasting salons, recalling the days of genteel wine tastings in Europe.
Seghesio evokes the tradition of relaxed Italian dinners with its Family Tables Tasting, which includes samplings of limited-release wines accompanied by small plates made from old family recipes."
San Francisco Chronicle
"Like Laurel and Hardy or Posh and Becks, great wine and the right food can go together famously. It's no surprise, then, that a growing number of Sonoma County wineries are offering food pairings with some of their vintages.
The best and most intimate is the hourlong tasting at Seghesio in Healdsburg. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, visitors can sample five appetizer-size portions with five library and limited-release wines for $25."

2006 Home Ranch Zinfandel- 91 Points
September 2008
The Connoisseur's Guide recently released their latest volume of wine reviews, featuring Zinfandels, and awarded our 2006 Home Ranch Zinfandel 91 points. They said "loaded with precise, utterly delicious blackberry fruit, and it is so carefully crafted that its alcohol is not intrusive. It is certain to get better with a few years of age, but its immediate appeals are hard to resist."
Seghesio Sustainability
July 10, 2008
One of the tenets of sustainability is to transition away from the use of harmful chemical applications.Chemical Fumigation of soil, prior to planting, has been a common method throughout the industry of killing roots and the diseases that they may carry. About 5 years ago, we began to use the plow to accomplish this task. This giant 5 foot plow cuts the soil in 3 foot increments and exposes all embedded roots. The uncovered roots can then be plucked out and disposed of requiring no chemical application of any kind. The use of this plow also offers thorough aeration of the soil.

Food and Wine Magazine- Napa and Sonoma's Best Winery Tours
October 2007
Reservation-only tours at wineries in Napa and Sonoma offer ample rewards for type-A travelers who make an appointment ahead of time: unique experiences like visits to historic caves, sit-down lunches and up-close-and-personal visits with winemakers.
"Seghesio offers a fantastic appointment-only Family Table program, in which guests gather in private dining rooms to enjoy the winery's famous Zinfandels (it makes five kinds) paired with Italian dishes from chef Jon Helquist (an alum of Chez Panisse, Oliveto and Martini House). Helquist might serve a creamy risotto with pancetta or a zucchini- and-tomato frittata using vegetables grown in the winery's garden—and the four appetizer-size portions are enough for a light lunch." - Food and Wine Magazine
