Aglianico, a historic grape dating to the seventh century BC, is prized by winemakers for its concentrated, vibrant, black fruit. One of the best kept secrets of its native Italy, Aglianico enjoys the sunshine of the Campania and Basilicata regions of Southern Italy. Seghesio Family Vineyards farms a small amount of this Noble varietal on the hillside of our Sisters vineyard on the Home Ranch in Alexander Valley. There, the warm, sun-filled days parallel that of its home in Italy.
Notes of amarena cherries, allspice, and fennel on the nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh with bright acidity that lift the wine's notes of bing cherry and dried herbs. Dusty tannins provide structure and the wine has a long and juicy finish.
Food Pairing Notes
