Third and fourth generations Ed and Ted Seghesio planted Chen’s Vineyard in 1972 using a proprietary clone that thrives in the sandy soils along Dry Creek. Much of the fruit goes into our popular Cortina Zinfandel, but we reserved fruit from two special blocks for our limited Chen’s Zinfandel. Within these blocks are just a few rows of vines planted directly along the river that produce truly rarified Zinfandel, deserving of a special and singular bottling.
Fresh-picked raspberries with hints of clay
earth, sassafras and cherry tree bark give the
wine a rich boldness and layers of
complexity. This Zinfandel has a lovely
density of concentrated flavor yet remains
elegant on the palate with subtle minerality
and silky tannins.
Food Pairing Notes
