2016 Venom, 90 points, Wine Spectator
This wine is 100% Sangiovese from Rattlesnake Hill on our Home Ranch estate in Alexander Valley. Earthy and savory dishes such as mushroom and sausage risotto, duck confit and chicken cacciatore would be sublime pairings.
2017 Barbera, 90 points, Wine Enthusiast
Effusive with notes of cinnamon and macerated strawberries with a touch of baked pie crust and the fragrance of sweet peas. On the palate, the wine blooms with notes of raspberries and spice, vibrant acidity and a bright juicy finish lengthened by a dusting of light tannins.
Notes of bartlett pear, citrus, orange blossom and limestone on the nose lead to a wine that is lively, persistent, and textured on the palate with notes of lime zest and stone fruits. Steamed clams and mussels or oysters on the half shell would be a perfect pairing, as would grilled halibut steaks, crab and English pea risotto, or pasta with pesto.
