This bright, cool-climate Zinfandel is highly expressive with notes of blueberry cobbler, briary licorice and clove, and subtle hints of forest floor. Dark and dense, yet elegant, the mouthfeel is beautifully balanced with finessed tannins and vibrant acidity.
This wine pairs well with flank steak or duck breast, especially with sauces that are slightly acidic, lamb loin with olive tapenade, and aged goat gouda.
Planted in the mid-1970’s, Mariah Vineyard is a sustainably and dry farmed vineyard planted high atop the Mendocino Ridge. The high elevation of the vineyard lifts it above the fog line, where the vines can soak up the sun during the day and are cooled by maritime winds coming off the Pacific Ocean at night to maintain perfect balance. A truly extraordinary site, we are pleased to have access to this incredible vineyard.
