2011 Old Vine Carignane
2011 Old Vine Carignane

Carignane is one of the world’s most widely planted varietals, prominent in Southern France, the United States, Israel, Northern Africa and many former Soviet countries. It is one of the wine industry’s favorite blending wines and a staple in our old vine plantings of Zinfandel. Like most grape varieties, Carignane vines evolve into something very special at about 50 years of age. This wine displays the character and complexity inherent in mature vineyards.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Aromas of floral perfumes, red raspberries and roasted nuts. Vibrant entry building in complexity on the mid-palate. Synergistic interplay of tannins and acidity in an elongated finish.
Food Pairing Notes
A wide range of foods from red meats to lighter fare such as herb-crusted fillet of fish.

Dry Creek Valley

The stronger marine influence of Dry Creek Valley keeps it cooler than Alexander Valley. In a normal season, this site will ripen later due to the prevailing afternoon breezes that typically temper the summer's heat. With mornings shrouded in fog during the summer months, this ranch’s diverse soils consist primarily of a gravelly loam called Cortina.
